cmmnt. Privacy Policy

The short version: cmmnt does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no network connections. Everything you capture, mark, and export stays on your Mac.

What cmmnt does

cmmnt is a Mac app for capturing a region of your screen, marking it up, and saving the result. All of this happens locally on your device. cmmnt has no servers, and it does not send anything to us or to anyone else.

Data we collect

None. cmmnt does not collect personal information, usage data, analytics, telemetry, crash reports, identifiers, or diagnostics. We have no way to see what you capture, what you mark up, or how you use the app.

What stays on your Mac

Your captures and exports — the images, GIFs, and PDFs cmmnt produces are saved only to the folder you choose, on your Mac. They are yours.
Your settings — preferences such as your export folder, hotkey, and recording quality are stored locally in the standard macOS preferences for the app.
Finder tags and file names — any tags or names you add are written to your files on your Mac and nowhere else.

System permissions cmmnt uses

macOS may ask you to grant these. cmmnt uses them only to do the job you asked for, and the results never leave your Mac:

Screen Recording — required by macOS to capture the region you select. The captured image is processed on-device and saved where you choose. It is never uploaded.
Files & folders — used to save your exports to the folder you pick.

Network access

cmmnt makes no network connections of its own. The only time your Mac may reach the internet on cmmnt's behalf is if you personally click a link inside the app (for example, this policy or our website), which opens in your normal web browser. cmmnt does not transmit any of your content when you do this.

Third parties

cmmnt includes no third-party SDKs, advertising, or analytics services. Your data is never shared or sold, because it is never collected in the first place.

Children's privacy

cmmnt does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If cmmnt's data practices ever change, we will update this policy and its effective date before the change takes effect. Our commitment is that cmmnt stays local-only and collection-free.
